Where: Cirque du Soleil’s Viva ELVIS stage at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
When: aired February 16th

The Standouts in part great, some parts nevermind:

Jen Hirsch, Creighton Fraker, Aaron Marcellus (With Nick Boddington who was eliminated on the spot after the performance), “Sealed With A Kiss” by The Four Voices

Jen Hirsh delivers another great rendition! Not particularly liking Creighton Fraker’s tendency to oversing and he’s a bit too sharp for our taste.

2/15 American Idol 11 Hollywood Week Group Night, Solos: ‘Georgia’ wins the night (Videos)

February 15- Wednesday’s Idol was a continuation of Hollywood week where the contestants sing or often fight their way for a spot onto the next round and the next, leading to the Top 24 pick and the live show.

Last week’s edition was pretty much useless as it was just setting up into this week’s group night and solos. The two-hour show was packed with singing! Albeit there were still some drama, excuses, forgetting the lyrics, passing out and getting sick.

The first hour showcased the group rounds which were so-so. Only a couple of standouts. The next half was the solo round where the hopefuls sing with a band accompaniment. Here, the contestants are allowed to play an instrument if they want. The winner of the night is ‘Georgia’. Yes “Georgia on my mind,” the song! We heard three different versions and they were all impressive. Not flawless but pretty dang good that all three judges stood up for Jen Hirsch and raved on the other two who also sang it, Reed Grimm and Adam Brock.

American Idol 11 Hollywood Week Part 1: And so the drama begins…

As Season 11 kicked off, 309 people made it past the oh so bland audition rounds that covered 7 cities. Over the course of three weeks- 8 hours total, American Idol managed to feature only a handful of standouts who were going to Hollywood for a spot in the live show.

There’s drama, cat fights, tears, sweats and anxiety all captured and edited for home viewers’ entertainment –it is Hollywood week! The cuts are brutal. Contestants are lined up in tens and 5 people either move on or leave right there and then. In day one, they cut 69 people.

To end the one hour show Wednesday night, they featured 16 year old Symone Black, who seemed fine through it all, did her solo well and all of a sudden while the judges were talking to her, lost her footing and FELL OFF the stage!! Looked like she passed out. At this point, end credits roll, torturing its viewers to tomorrow nights continuation of this unexpected event. That is reality television for you.
