The rumor had been hurriedly spreading; Miley Cyrus was going to be at the American Idol finale, set to perform. Excitement among her fans and those of American Idol built over the passing hours, only to have the hopes extinguished today.

Ken Baker of E! News brought the truth to his Twitter, confirming that Miley had been set to show up at American Idol, but now that is no longer what is to take place. Lots of one-word comments were used, packed with shock and disbelief:
